Wikipedia Article

Post by rbc »

I've been making a full-court press to improve the Wikipedia article for the Rockman:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockman_%28amplifier%29

Let me know if you have any comments.

Thanks,

To me, the previous information was fine. Instead of trying to cover all the details, forgetting some, getting some information wrong, repeating someone else's information covering the topic, or just general misinformation.... A site like this is more important to people that want the details. Having that link to this site was more important, I think.

My goal with the Wikipedia article is awareness. It's such a unique thing that Scholz went out and made the gear that he needed, gear that lots of others appreciate. Lots of people look at and contribute to Wikipedia. Perhaps I can engage others who might not be part of this board, but are avid Wikipedia contributors. If I actually have anything wrong in the article, let me know. I've been trying to make good use of the references that I have.

Best,

I don't post on Wikipedia about Rockmans.

I didn't invent them. I was not an engineer for SR&D. I did not even help in the manufacturing process.

Most everything else is speculation or personal opinion. (and there is a ton of room for opinion in the music world)

That's why this forum is here.

Wikipedia is not a be-all-end-all source for everything. It should have a nice chunk of basic information on a particular subject. If you want more, you have to seek out other specific sources (such as this site, Jark's site, Rockman Central, Youtube, etc).

Rockman.fr covers a ton of technical aspects. There's no need to copy and paste what someone can go read for themselves.

Just my two cents on it.

Yep, I agree with all that. If too much detail went into Wikipedia, there would be push back from the Wikipedia volunteers. Too much detail makes the articles inaccessible to the mainstream audience. The deeper details belong elsewhere, here for example ;)
