ROCKMAN X100 Question RE: a local seller selling a X100

Post by KG1USA »

All,

A local person in my area is selling a Rockman X100 for $100 without a power adapter. I looked on eBay and the (120v AC input 60 Hz (input) +/- 6.00 volt 200 ma (output) ) power adapters are $75 or more.

Can you use ANY power adapter as long as it is rated the exact same as the SR&D, or that can be switched to the appropriate voltage for these units, or does it unequivocally have to be an SR&D X100 adapter?

I thought about offering the guy $40.00 (all I'm willing to lose to find out). Also, he claims to "know nothing" about the pedal, yet his profile clearly shows him playing guitar in several pictures; so this sounds suspect to me. Anyone who plays guitar and has a Rockman in their possession absolutely knows what they have. This leads me to believe the unit may be bad and he's playing dumb to get out of his investment. Maybe it was given to him..? No clue.

Since this is time-sensitive here so your immediate feedback is appreciated.

You need the correct ROCKMAN +6 -6 vdc power adapter OR get one installed from B5. I suggest telling the guy to stick some batteries in the unit and test it out, hopefully the terminals aren't corroded.

Thank you! I will do that. Can you explain "B5"?

I spoke to the guy and he said he put batteries in it and it does work, although two of the battery terminals have a little corrosion on them, and he "they just need to be cleaned off." Thoughts? He's selling it for $100.00.

If the red light is blinking on the unit then its likely working if the springs are corroded then its no big deal, the battery door can be replaced also. B5 is they only company I know of that repairs the X100. I had him fix mine a few years ago. $100 is a good deal if the unit is working.
