Full Range "Guitar" Cabinets

Post by rbc »

I was kind of curious if you guys have any opinions about favorite full range cabinets in the tradition of guitar stacks? Something like the Rockman Guitar Monitor, some kind of straight cabinet.

I found a few:

The Matrix FR12 is a powered, full range, flat response cabinet with DSP functions:

The AccuGroove FRFR line:

The Avatar G212:

And KPA Solutions (Marco Wendel and Tilman Ritter) FRFR cabinets:

Does anyone know what the speaker specs were in these original full range cabs and how they sounded.

I recommend the JBL MR935 speaker cabinet.

Motorola Piezo tweeter
JBL or Peavey Eminence ten (10) inch midrange driver
Fifteen (15) inch Peavey Black Widow or Eminence woofer
Custom electronic crossovers were Peavey Type 1 or SR&D Type 2.

I still have my stack.....They are pretty strong in the Mid Range and not super bright.
Pretty damn heavy too!!!

FWIW, Boston no longer uses them on stage anymore since the band has all switched to in ear monitors.
They make a great eye candy though and hold up all the Rockman Headcases nicely!!!

Any idea what the model numbers would have been on any of these. I want to find out the specs.

Thank you
