Turning reverb and chorus off on x100

Post by TONY »

Hello I am new to this place, thanks for the invite!

Does anyone know how to modify a Rockman x100 so both the chorus AND reverb are deactivated? (off and out of the circuit completely)

I understand I need to open the unit up

This has been driving me crazy..I really need the x100 DRY..for recording

Thanks a million!

You might consider finding an Ultralight or Soloist. You can disable the effects on those. There is also the Ace family, but the noise might be a problem for what you are doing.

Hi Thanks for that but you are right..i have the ace series..far to noisy for my use..its a shame becuase its a nice circuit they are up for sale if anyone wants them :)

i dont have the time to wait for another type of rockman,in any case the x100 sounds better than the others

Surely there is a very simple mod to just disable the effects on an x100? Anybody?(i have looked online high and low but no info)

Def Leppard and ZZTOP did it :)

If you put the mode switch to "Chorus Off" and remove resistors R204 and R209 it should also disconnect the reverb (echo) signals.

Hey I found the resistors and snipped them. Works great! Thanks so much

I just checked the schematics and yes, it should work, though it's a permanent solution.
I would probably opt the put them on a DPDT micro switch so I could turn it on/off.

Yeah, a DPDT switch has 2 set of switches, and each set has a "common" pole and then 2 "option" poles. Each resistor would go to a set. Basically, take where you cut it and feed it to the common, then connect where the other end would have gone if you hadn't cut it to one of the options, and the other one can go to ground (or leave floating not connected to anything... really shouldn't matter). The switch will then either restore the connection as if you hadn't cut it, or disconnect it again.
