Unbalanced / Balanced Conversion

Post by rbc »

I'm curious about how to convert the unbalanced out from the Rockmodules to balanced for the trip to the FOH mixer. Can anyone remark on what has worked for them? I'm familiar with the idea of shorting the pins 1 and 3 (ground and cold) to send unbalanced audio into a balanced system. What I'm after is making the audio balanced. I have a little cheap Behringer mixer that has balanced TRS main out. I can use that. I'd like something that I can mount on the back of my rack though.

Thanks in advance,

Last time I played live with my Rockman the club had a house DI on stage I plugged into. Not sure if it's common for a venue to have their own DI's but I wouldn't be surprised if it were.

That's cool. It's probably better to use the house gear when it's available. I did order a Behringer HD400, a passive stereo TRS/TRS DI box. I don't have it yet.

The HD400 came in. It seems to work as advertised. I misspoke before. It's a two channel TRSF toTRSF passive DI. Not TRS to TRS. I've seen some dink on the DI box designs for effecting tone. I couldn't hear any difference in tone or level when I did A/B testing.
