CLN2 Sound

I've been doing some reading in the user manuals and on Jark's web site about the CLN2 sound. I'm starting to get that mostly what CLN2 does is bypass the complex filter that makes up the cabinet simulation. This would seem to avoid the guitar amp like bandpass and make CLN2 a flatter EQ. I was just curious if I have that right? Are there any more references that I could look into? I guess there are the patents themselves.
