Head case recommendations

Hey, I'm going to go shopping for a 19 inch 4-6U head case. Any suggestions on models that are rockmodule friendly?

A rack is a rack is a rack. The only thing Rockmodule-friendly is the tray they are mounted to. If you're not touring or taking the rack all over the place, pretty much anything will do. Watch for depth, though - the old Raxxess trays are deeper than most, and some power amps are mighty deep, too. Other than that, I would go big. (yes, I do love big racks) It stinks to need a whole new rack because you just got an awesome *insert new gear here*. Power amps can be one, two, or three spaces... a power strip/lights is one... an MXR gate is one.... a rack EQ is at least one, usually two.... got pedals? That's at least two. It all adds up quick. But racks are nice because everything is in there, and you can just close the doors and be done.

One reminder, though, and a bit of a pet peeve.... I don't remember who it was on Ebay offering the Rockmodules with the 2' power cords (yes, that's two feet). They were hyping them up as being so awesome... like anyone sits two feet from a power plug.. heck, two feet in my racks won't even GET to the power strip. DUMB! They're tearing up Rockman units, replacing power cords, with who knows what quality..... GAH!!!

It's simple. Power and audio do not mix. Keep the power cords tied together on one side of the rack, and the audio cords tied together on the other side. Twist ties or zip ties are your friend. Power strip. Problems solved. No modifications, no shortening of cords. Common sense prevails.

Thanks for your suggestions. The Sustainor I bought had what looked like an original cord, but it was cut short. The seller did disclose that prior to sale, so I wasn't surprised. Depending on the arrangement I settle on, I may have to do something about that.

Very nice looking unit! I'd go for the full depth version. Ideally, you could locate a used RMC cab - Vince built beautiful, sturdy cabs with integral power. I've got two of them!

To start, I'm going to keep it simple. Just a Sustainor and Chorus/Delay, plus equalizers.

And so it starts! I started with 5U and ended up with an 8U.......

You're probably right about it being a slippery slope. I already have 3U of modules and want more

Thinking about this more, you will likely want to consider either a rack with wheels or one of those platforms with wheels to put the rack on. Especially if you have to take a rack out someplace (and it's more than about 4 spaces), wheels are a godsend.

Also start now in buying the best jumper cables you can afford. While at the music store, I DID hear the difference. I used to buy the cheapy cables. Then I heard the difference (or DIDN'T hear, actually). Cheap cables are noisy. Plus, the good cables come with a lifetime warranty. Just bring them back to the store for a free replacement. Your tone is only as good as your weakest link.
