Pick up magnetic pole adjustment

Have you adjusted your pickup pole screws and if so how?
Do you think adjustment has made any noticeable difference?

I have adjusted mine on both of my main guitars with the outer E strings both lower and upper at or close to even with pick up and following the fretboard curve higher in the middle. On my favorite I have spent many hours trying to adjust to have all strings the same volume following some possible mystical theory or myth, but I'm not totally convinced that is even possible.
